Day 12, 2016.07.20 Kunerma

Was nearly the same then the day before. The Schigalowo Road had again just dust dust dust. We hoped for at least one nice camp spot, a beautiful view but got nothing. The best was when some tanks blew up the dust instead of the trucks we were already used to.

This road is really just an option if you looking for the fastest way up to the BAM on the western lake side. But finally we reached the BAM. We needed to fill up fuel and supplies in Magistral and drove for Sewerobaikalsk. We didn’t reach it but found a very nice campspot with a very scenic view water and more mosquitos than we ever had before.

Most impressive was the GAZ Gazelle that visited us, when the owner went fishing.This van uses a reliable Cummins engine with 115HP, is of course 4×4 but instead of the well known European vans it has low range, rigid axles, rear differential lock and leaf springs. The empty weight of around 2t and the gross weight of 3.5t make it to the ultimate van for Offroaders.
